Steve McClure Pulpit Minister

Steve McClure, Pulpit Minister
Steve is a native of Joplin,
Missouri and attended Ozark
Christian College,
El Paso School of Missions, and the University of Wisconsin.
He holds 2 degrees, one in ministry, and one in missions. He is the son of a
preacher. He loves to preach, and served as the Preaching Minister at the
Smoky Mountain Christian Church (Sevierville,
TN) for over 19 years. Upon
Steve's arrival at Smoky
Mountain the church was
still a 'Church Plant' receiving financial support from the area and
averaging about 80 members. The church as been financially independent for years, and currently Smoky Mountain
has over 300 members. He also has a passion for missions and is serving on
these mission boards: Gospel Broadcasting Mission (most notable the The Christian Hour, for which Steve's
father serves as host!), Mission Services Association (responsible for
numerous publications); and Kuki Christian Church,
in India.
There are other community-based ministries he's involved with. He reads
often, loves to cook, and enjoys watching baseball at ball fields.
Steve joined our Staff here at First Christian
Church in May 2007.
Steve and his wife Ginger
have been married for over 24 years and they have 2 young adult children.
Their 21 year old son works for the National Park Service in the Smoky Mountain
park, and Lydia is a
sophomore at Johnson
Bible College.
Ginger loves to be outdoors, especially mowing grass! Ginger has also served
in numerous capacities in church work.church. She
is known for her ability to teach the Bible. Having a heart for children, she
assisted a kindergarten teacher in the public school for years until the
teacher retired, at that point Ginger was asked to increase her hours at her
other part-time job assisting doctors in the medical field. Before moving to
Carmi, she worked in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg (Tennessee) Tourism industry.

Sean Cribbs
Music/Associate Minister

Sean Cribbs, Music/Associate Minister
Sean is the newest member of our staff having been
called to the new combined position of Music & Associate Minister as of
July 12, 2009. He is a native of Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida but has lived in Georgia since the age of 12.
He comes to us as a December, 2008 graduate of
Atlanta Christian
College (East Point, Georgia),
where he earned a BS in Music with a minor in Biblical Studies. Both of Sean’s grandfathers are ministers
and encouraged him to enter the ministry upon graduating from high school in
1988, but Sean worked several years before enrolling in Bible college. In college, he led worship in chapel and
for the Christian Singers Workshop. He
was also the recipient of the Ralph Warren English Award. First Christian Church is his first
ministry after graduation.
Sean and his wife Christy,
were married in 1993. She worked as an
elementary Certified Para-Pro in Georgia
(known as a teacher’s aide in Illinois). Christy also sings and plays the
piano. They have one daughter,
Elizabeth (born in 1996) and one son, Jonathan (born in 2000). The whole family enjoys a variety of music,
movies, and books.

Linda Carter Children's Ministry

of Children’s Ministries
Linda oversees plans,
organizes materials, and obtains personnel for our Pre K-5th Grade Children's
Programs including Youth Groups, Activities, and Pre K Worship. Linda is a
native of McLeansboro, but has been a Carmi
resident since 1986. She is a graduate of McLeansboro
High School, Fairfield Community College (Associate Degree), University of
Evansville (Bachelor Degree), and University of Wesleyan in Marion, IN
(Master's Degree). She retired from teaching in the Carmi school district
after 28 years .
Linda loves to travel and
has been to Australia, Aruba, Panama,
Costa Rica, and Hawaii. In addition,
she goes on a "Sister Tour" each year for the past 30 years with 2
of her sisters.
Linda loves to spend time
with her family - son and daughter-in-law Kenny and Lisa Carter, daughter and
son-in-law Pam and Kevin Hammell, and four grandchildren Carson and Cole
Carter, and Shelby and Mallory Hammell.

Rose Poore Office Manager

Rose Poore,
Office Manager
Rose has worked for the church since 1972 (35 years). She
enjoys family time especially with granddaughter, Gabrielle Knox age 5. Rose
also likes dancing, writing, speaking, traveling, and office work. She writes
a bi-weekly humor column ( Life Through Rose-Colored Glasses) for the Carmi Times
newspaper and has over 25 years of
speaking experience at Ladies Days, Retreats, Banquets, Civic Organizations, and Secretary Conferences.
She and her husband, Harold E. "Coach" Poore,
celebrated their 46th
wedding anniversary last January. He is a retired teacher/coach/Athletic
Director (34 yrs in education) and is now a sporting goods team sales rep to
schools. He was inducted into the Illinois High School Basketball Coaches
Hall of Fame last spring. He enjoys sports & training standardbred
horses.
They have one daughter, Tammy Knox, graduate
of Murray State
University (Murray, Ky)
where she was a member of the MSU Women’s Tennis Team and Alpha Sig Sorority. She works as a marketing and publicity director.
She and her daughter, Gabrielle, live near Indianapolis.

Sharon Hargis Office Assistant

Sharon Hargis, Office Assistant
Sharon
has worked for the church since 1991 (17 yrs). She enjoys reading, family,
working at the church, and walking. Her late husband, John, served as an elder
at our church for many years. John and Sharon had celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary in August 2007. He was a retired coal mine foreman and
worked part time at Super Wash. He loved horseback riding and University of Illinois sports.
Sharon
has one daughter and two sons. Her daughter, Kim, is a Flight Attendant for
Continental Airlines and is married to John Moskoff,
who is a pharmaceutical salesman. They make their home in St. Louis. Her son Jaron
is a University of Illinois graduate, now living in Evansville. He is an Assistant Vice
President and Commercial Underwriter for Commerce Bank. Her son John Leo is a
Rolla School of Mines graduate and is married to Sherry. They have 2 grown
children: Stephanie and Adam. They make their home in Benton where John Leo works for So. Illinois Power Plant.
