We are a Christian
Church – our message is that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God. We
are a church of Christ –our church belongs to Him. We are a thinking church –
the Christian faith demands the best of our minds. We are a feeling church
– we rejoice in the Lord and
praise and pray and serve from the heart. We are a sharing church – we want everyone to share in the
experience of belonging to Jesus. We are a growing church – because we know
that we have not yet achieved all that God wants for us. We are a church that desires to obey
the command of Jesus to love God and love people. There’s room for you in the
First Family. Request a visit from one of our ministers and we’ll tell you
how you can become a part of what God is doing here at First Christian
Church.

Greeting from
Sallie Fechtig
Rose
got an email from Sallie Fechtig Thursday morning. She has been in the
hospital with complications from
medication but is doing well and was able to make a trip to California from
her home in Arizona with her
daughter. She sends her special greetings to all of her old friends here at
FCC. Sallie, now in her 80s, taught our Phi Chi Class for many years while
her late husband Ernie was Superintendent of Carmi Schools. It’s
hard to believe she’s been gone
from Carmi for over 25 years. No
doubt, she’d love to hear from you: ssfefechtig@aol.com sfechtig@aol.com American Red Cross Blood Drive
Here on Thursday, July 29, 2-6pm The Red Cross has notified us that they are in drastic need of blood at this time – especially O Negative. So every donor is important. Plus, they notified us that every donor’s name will be entered in a “Win a Car” contest! Plans for a “Habitat for Humanity House” in White
County Tom Logan asked for our help in letting you know the group hoping to build the house needs: (1) monetary donations (2) purchases of a particular item such as a sink, shower, etc (3) volunteers to work in the actual construction WHEN it begins – carpentry knowledge is good but not necessary for all work that needs to be done. Please contact Tom Logan at 6l8.382.8066 for information. (Please do not contact our church regarding this project. We have no other information other that what is printed here.) In Loving Sympathy We express our sympathy to the family
of Ed Smith. A memorial service will be
held for him this afternoon at 1:00 at
Campbell’s. There is a dinner here afterwards for
the family. We express our sympathy to the family
of Gloria (Mrs Barry) Dennis. Services were held for her
Friday morning at Stendebach’s. Help
is Needed with the Baptistry: If you would like to serve on the
baptistry min- istry to keep the robes and towels clean and the dressing room ready, please see
Steve. Bethlehem Revisited
Surveys Again Sunday We
have nearly 70 signed up to participate in
Bethlehem Revisited. Everyone is invited to
help bring the village to life again. There are jobs
inside, outside, in the village, and behind the scenes. YOU CHOSE the one you like best!!! We hope
you will fill out a survey and leave it in the offering plate, at the Welcome Center, or at the church
office sometime soon. Monetary Donations Needed The church has received over $600
for Bethle- hem
Revisited. More funds are needed. If you would
like to contribute, please use one of the
special white envelopes at the Welcome Center. More
surveys are there, too.
We
celebrate the baptism of Tyler Spence last Sunday morning. He is the 8 year old son of Brad &
Kim Spence. (His dad baptized him.) Brad is a Carmi City Policeman and Kim works & travels as a pharmaceutical rep. Tyler will be in the 4th grade this fall and he has a younger
brother, Tanner (age 5) entering kindergarten. Tyler loves to do magic
tricks and ride his scooter. He is on the Swim Team and also plays golf. His favorite subject in school is science. He and his family enjoy going to St Louis Cardinals’ games. We are happy to have them all in our church family and say a
special “Welcome!” to Tyler. Deacons Monthly MeetingOur
